Joseph “Joey” Pomykal, 37, of La Grange, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021.

Joey was born in Brenham on Oct. 22, 1984, the son of Brice Edward Pomykal and Dana (Sealy) Davis.

He loved heavy metal music and going to concerts. A few of his favorite bands were Back From Ashes, Nirvana, Korn, Slipknot, and Metallica. Joey was extremely talented in many ways. At a young age he developed a passion for art and cartoons. He loved sports, skateboarding, and anything with a motor. Later in life his love for poetry grew and he began to express himself through his writing. Joey had a way of speaking that would capture your heart and open your mind. He made friends anywhere he went, and if Joey called you a friend, he treated you like family. He loved animals and all his pets loved him dearly. Joey’s wit was sharp, and he was incredibly smart. And he knew this. He was very seldom wrong, and even when he was, he wasn’t. Indeed, he wasn’t.

He is survived by his mother, Dana Davis and husband, Rick, of La Grange; father, Brice Pomykal and wife, Kalisa, of Brenham; sister, Katherine Pomykal and husband, Will Espinosa, of Hutto; grandparents: Mike and Judy Morgan of La Grange; Dan and Shirley Sealy, of Coleman; uncle, Jack Sealy and wife Jennifer of Alabama; aunt, Darla Willoughby and husband, Michael of Austin; niece, Joee Espinosa and nephew, Isaac Espinosa, of Hutto; stepbrother, Hunter Pomykal; several loved cousins and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Frank and Annie Pomykal; and great grandparents, Lydia and SL Stephens, Jr.

A private service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter, Hospice Brazos Valley or Children’s Advocacy Center.
