Feed the Need, a nonprofit organization based in Bastrop whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers and hot dogs every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at 901 Mode Lane near White Rock Park. Everyone is welcome.

The Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge 151 met for the regular monthly meeting Monday, Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall near Round Top. Lila Garlin, President, opened the meeting. The correspondence was a thank you note from Kailey Zoch representing IMPACT at Texas A&M.

The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society met on Tuesday, June 15 in the Hanslik Hall of the Texas Czech Heritage and Culture Center (TCHCC) in La Grange, at 5:30 p.m., for the annual summer picnic and membership meeting.

Members of the Frisch Auf! Country Club set up a memorial on Sunday to the 13 fallen service members who died in Afghanistan on Thursday, Aug. 26. An empty table with 13 chairs was set up in the clubhouse, with a bottle of Shiner Bock for each of the fallen. H-E-B says the remodel of its La Grange store should be complete by the summer of next year. The renovation includes an addition of over 5,000 square feet with expanded departments, greater product selection and convenient services.

Kyla Faith Drozd was an active student La Grange ISD, where she and friends interacted as any “normal” adolescents do. Very few would know that Kyla suffered from mental illness, as her smile and outgoing personality masked this from many.

Fayette County EMS treats the driver of a Kia SUV that rolled on its side on State Highway 71 near Zapalac Road Monday morning. The wreck happened around 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 30. A witness said the SUV hit a guardrail before rolling on its side. The driver was not seriously injured.
