The Fayette County Fair runs Thursday through Sunday this week, and one of the main attractions every year is the annual downtown parade. This year's theme is “Roaring Twenties!” This year’s parade is scheduled for Saturday, Sept.

The project to buyout and demolish the Hurricane Harveydamaged homes on Country Club Drive could take another year to complete. Fayette County Commissioners voted on Monday to approve an extension to the County’s grant application for the buyout project.

The La Grange Bluebonnet Lions held their Aug. 19 meeting at their new location in the Randolph Recreation Center. Lion David Wagner, zone chair and president of the Noon Lions, was on hand to assist in the installation of the 2021-2022 officers. Recently, an anonymous donor drop off some Whataburger gift cards at Navidad Valley Community Connections (NVCC) and left a note that said “for Bingo Prizes.” So, NVCC started having a drawing every Monday to generate some excitement. So far, Aileen Kasper and Freda Ellison have been prize winners. Then, NVCC offered a Whataburger gift card for the last Bingo of the day, which is always a black-out, and Betty Stolarski was the winner this past Wednesday.

August 27-31, 1971 Ernst Emmerich, Round Top’s city marshal for 57 years, was honored with a steak dinner at Birkelbach’s Cafe upon his retirement. Hale and hearty at 82, Mr.

Kristi Bauer, executive director of CASA, recently accepted a $1,000 donation from the Round Top Lion’s Club. CASA supports and promotes court appointed volunteer advocacy for children and youth who have experienced abuse or neglect. Join descendants of the Dawson and Mier Expeditions, members of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Sons of the Republic of Texas, community members, Sites staff, and volunteers as they honor the soldiers entombed on Monument Hill. The memorial ceremony will include guest speakers, wreath laying, and gun salute.

The Fayette County Grand Jury handed down nine felony indictments on Aug. 19.
