Flatonia Mourns Passing of Band Director Bob Hansen

The Flatonia school district is mourning the loss of band director Bob Hansen, 43, who died this week following his heart attack suffered last Thursday. The school has opened an account at the Flatonia National Bank for those wishing to make donations to the Hansen Family.

Song Released in Honor of Drozd

Texas Country singer Jason Allen pre-released a new song “Behind That Smile” this week, which was co-written by La Grange’s Eric Tillery. The song promotes mental health awareness.

Viking Charity Festival Saturday In Round Top

The First Annual Texas Midgard Viking Charity Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 25 beginning at 11 a.m. at The Stone Cellar in Round Top. Join for a day of fun to benefit charities. The day will feature live music, demonstrations, axe throwing, a Traders Market, silent auction, and food throughout the day. NVCC Center to Hear From Craig Moreau

It was a good week at the senior center. NVCC had another large crowd this past Wednesday, with a total of 28, so NVCC is approaching its goal of 30 and will bring some more chairs in as the center continues grow.

Shared Lutheran Ministry Fun Nights Announced

SLM Fun Nights with potluck have been scheduled. They will be held the fourth Wednesday of each month, rotating between the four churches. Gathering and social time will be from 5:30-6 p.m., the meal at 6 p.m., and games, social time, a special focus or craft, etc. at about 6:30 p.m. this month the SLM will be gathering at St. John Lutheran in Ellinger on Sept. 22. There will be games and fun for all. Also bring canned soup,stew, or chili to be given to AMEN.

4-Hers Compete In Guadalupe County

Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Guadalupe County livestock judging contest on Saturday, Sept. 18. The Fayette County 4-H Junior team placed 11th overall. Team members consisted of Rheagan Karisch, Ryder Klesel, Hayleigh Pizzitola, and Brylee Brugger. Individually, Rheagan was 10th high point Junior and 3rd in Sheep and Goats. 4-Hers Compete In Guadalupe County

Buscha Family Reunion Held in Warda

The descendants of John Buscha Sr. family (1840-1918), with the first generation of John Bushca Jr., Matthes Buscha and Louise Buscha Miersch, celebrated with the bi-annual reunion at the Warda Picnic Grounds on Saturday, Sept. 11. Now the Buscha Family descendances are in the seventh generation. This year’s event was hosted by Brandon and Hope Buscha of Kyle. The BBQ chicken and sausage meal was served with side dishes and desserts furnished by the 36 family members in attendance. Before the meal, a moment of silence was held in remembrance of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attack. The next Buscha Reunion will be held in two years on Oct. 14, 2023.
