Sheriff Keith Korenek Reports on August Activity

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of August.

Deputy Ben Wilson responded to Zilss Road in reference to a suicidal person possibly armed with a gun. Investigation determined that the patient was not suicidal. Wilson also responded to a disturbance between a male and female at a residence off of FM 2237. The two parties were separated for the remainder of the day and no charges were filed.

Investigator Marc Bennett is currently investigating an allegation of physical abuse to a twelve year old male from the Flatonia area. Bennett is also working a fraud case of checks being passed of a local person at an out of town bank.

Sergeant Ron Naumann observed two motorcycles being operated in the Fayetteville area without license plates. Both drivers had no insurance or motorcycle endorsements on their license. The drivers were cited and both bikes impounded.

Deputy Ryan Meagher responded to Bordovsky Road for a welfare concern for a resident which had not been seen for some time. The resident was found deceased and an autopsy was ordered. Meagher also made another inquest at a residence off of Lane Pool Road. A 29-year-old male was found deceased and an autopsy was ordered.

Deputy Terry Guentert responded to property in the Cistern area for damages to a rock entrance at a driveway. The damages are consistent with a vehicle hitting the entrance.

Deputy Herman Olvera took a report of a person bit by a dog on Helcamp Road. Olvera also responded to a suspicious vehicle on Interstate 10. The vehicle was located and found to be stolen from Colorado County.

Deputy Austin Moore stopped the driver of a vehicle traveling on Interstate 10 near Engle for a traffic violation. Investigation resulted in the driver being arrested and charged with numerous narcotic offenses. Moore also stopped another driver of a vehicle on Interstate 10 near Schulenburg for a traffic offense. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of THC oil and was arrested.

Deputy James Ulbig investigated an alleged assault report off of Ehler Grasshoff Road.

Deputy Rick Martell assisted the La Grange Police Department with a subject who made threats to his wife with a machete. The male was located and arrested. Martell also responded to a suicidal juvenile female who attempted to cut her wrists and jump off of the Bluff. The female was transported to hospital in Austin for further treatment.

Deputy Joe Gonzales responded to The Point Store for a subject who passed a counterfeit twenty dollar bill. The subject was arrested. Gonzales responded to a suicide in the Fayetteville area where a male took his life with a firearm.

Deputy Michael Krenek responded to a fence damage call in the Round Top area. A suspect was located and agreed to pay the fence owner for damages. Krenek also stopped the driver of a vehicle on State Highway 71 near La Grange for a traffic violation. The driver possessed a warrant and was arrested.

Deputy Michael Michalec stopped the driver of a vehicle on State Highway 71 near Ellinger for a traffic violation. The driver was found to be intoxicated and also carrying a weapon. The driver was arrested.

Deputy Seth Nagel responded to a vehicle fire on FM 609 north of Flatonia. The fire was extinguished by the driver and there were no reported injuries. Nagel also had an abandon vehicle removed from the roadway at State Highway 71 and Loop 220.

Deputy Orlando Buitron responded to a disturbance at a residence off of East Old Lockhart Road. The victim alleged to have been assaulted and the actor had fled the scene. Buitron also responded to a disturbance at Barton Creek and South Kirtley Road. One person on location was arrested for public intoxication.

Deputy Lee Phillips responded to a traffic hazard on Interstate 10 regarding a vehicle. The occupant of the vehicle was found to be in possession of narcotics and was arrested. Phillips also stopped the driver of a vehicle on US Highway 77 near Herzik Road for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle was charged with possession of marijuana.

Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 60 individuals for the month of August and three were transported to the Texas Department of Corrections.
