Song Released in Honor of Drozd

Texas Country singer Jason Allen pre-released a new song “Behind That Smile” this week, which was co-written by La Grange’s Eric Tillery.

The song promotes mental health awareness. Tillery lost his teenage stepdaughter Kayla Faith Drozd last year to suicide. He wrote the words and Allen put them to music. The pre-release video is available at https://youtu.be/PZd1HbgZNkU.

“The first thing you notice about someone the majority of the time is their smile,” Tillery says in the intro to the video. “But have you ever taken the time to notice what’s going on behind that smile? Is there pain, anger, sorrow, maybe a little bit of depression? You know, a lot of people put band aids on wounds. With mental health, the biggest band aid you can put on a wound is a smile. You never really know what’s going on behind it. So I challenge you to take the time and get to know someone behind that smile.”
