I-10 Pursuit Ends With Subject In Custody for Stolen Truck

On Thursday, Feb. 17 at approximately 10:22 p.m. Sgt. Ryan Meagher attempted to stop a 2019 gray Ford Raptor on I-10 eastbound near mile marker 674. The Ford Raptor was reported stolen out of San Antonio. The vehicle failed to yield to Meagher and a pursuit ensued. Meagher was assisted by Deputy Austin Moore. Officer Duane Meagher Jr. and Sgt. Tobey McFadden with the Schulenburg Police Department also joined in the pursuit to assist. Pursuing Officers were advised by dispatch that two loaded handguns were inside of the vehicle at the time it was stolen. The vehicle exited at the 677 eastbound exit and immediately got back on I-10 headed westbound. Officer Trey Tunis with the Flatonia Police Department deployed spike strips (tire deflation device) at the 666 westbound mile marker. The spike strips successfully disabled the vehicle’s tire causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The vehicle came to a stop at the 661 westbound overpass. The driver who was unarmed, was taken into custody without incident. The Fayette County Sheriff’s office would like to extend our gratitude to both the Schulenburg Police Department and the Flatonia Police Department for their assistance.

James and Joan Ivy Travel to California

James and I took off last week to sunny southern California to join up with cousins Patty and John Keaton in Brawley in the Imperial Valley. On the way out to Brawley we stopped outside of Tucson, Arizona to see the last Titian Missile Museum. Fascinating to see the massive missile and hear all about the installation. We then spent the night in Brawley before we traveled up to Bakersfield where we stayed prior to traveling on to Tulare in central California to the World Ag Expo.
