Winchester Round Table Book Club Meets
The Winchester Round Table Book Club met this last week with two new members. A lively discussion was held regarding the February book selection, “The Last Thing He Told Me” by Laura Dave. The next meeting will be on March 15 at 7 p.m. at Zilss Hall with a discussion of the book “One for the Black Bird and One for the Crow” by Olivia Hawker. Come and join in the discussion.
Winchester Area VFD
On March 8 at 6:30 p.m. in Zilss Hall, WAVFD supporters will meet to once again pledge their willingness to assist the department when asked to do so. Election of board officers and business related to the operation of the department will also be held. If you are interested in serving as a board member or helping as a general member, this is the meeting to attend. Supporters will start assembling at 6 p.m. with the business meeting at 6:30 p.m. BYOB.
Recycling Trailer
The Winchester recycling trailer is located on the side of Zilss Hall on Memorial Hall Street. Please place your recycling in the appropriate bins. We would appreciate that you make sure that you close the bins so that any trash will remain in the bins and not blow. Best Little Quilt Show in Texas
Best Little Quilt Show in Texas
The Winchester Quilt Trail will have a booth at the Best Little Quilt Show in Texas on Feb. 25-26 at the KC Hall in La Grange. Stop by and visit with them.
Barn Board Quilt Trail
Classes are scheduled for February 26 and March 10. There are some spots available if anyone would like to take a class. Each class will begin at 10 a.m. and will be completed by 4 p.m. The cost of the class is $75, and you can register and pay on the website, www.quiltblocktrail. com. All supplies are provided. You are asked to bring sack lunch and wear clothes that are suitable for painting. If you have any questions give Rhoda Gersch a call at (979) 242-3213 or Margaret Atkins at (512) 751-5298.
Barn Board Quilt Trail Drive out to Winchester, pick
Drive out to Winchester, pick up a map at Murphy’s or Zilss Hall and enjoy viewing the 65 quilt blocks displayed in our area. The trail is self-drive, available at your convenience, and is a great way to spend an afternoon viewing quilt blocks on fences, gates, barns, and houses that can be seen from the road. Winchester Barn Board Quilt Trail maps can be picked up at the Texas Quilt Museum, Casino Hall, the Wendish Museum, quilt stores, and other businesses in Giddings, Smithville, and La Grange.
Zilss Community Hall
Anyone wishing to rent Zilss Hall should contact (512) 434-0292. The hall is following COVID-19 requirements. Rent is very reasonable.
The Little Free Library
The library is always open and has a variety of authors. Space is limited, so please, if you donate a book(s), look through the current selection and take as many as you leave. The Little Free Library is housed under the roof of the patio at Zilss Hall. There is also a bulletin board available on the patio. If you have an event, you would like to advertise, please post.

St. Michael’s Lutheran Church
The weekly worship service takes place at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning in the sanctuary. Following the worship service, you may gather in the Education Building for Bible Study and Sunday School beginning at 10:15 a.m. You are welcome to visit for Worship and Bible Study. When you come to the church, please introduce yourself to Pastor Nate, he will be thrilled to get to meet you.
