Czech Heritage Society Holds Winter Membership Meeting

The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society met on Sunday, Feb. 6 in the Hanslik Hall of the Texas Czech Heritage and Culture Center (TCHCC) in La Grange, at 2 p.m. for the winter membership meeting. Fourteen members and four guests were present. Two new members were welcomed. The chapter currently has 73 adult members and 12 youth members.
The Fayette County Chapter of the Czech Heritage Society of Texas installed chapter officers for 2022. Winedale Quilt Show Continues this Weekend

Winedale’s upcoming quilt show, “Connecting Threads: New Acquisitions in the Winedale Quilt Collection,” continues this weekend, Feb. 25-27. In this exhibition, five new acquisitions engage in conversation with previously acquired pieces from the Winedale Quilt Collection. Art Work Displayed for TWL Gala

The Texas Women’s League (TWL) will hold their annual Gala on March 5. TWL provides financial assistance to Fayette County Charities. A large part of the donations come from the silent auction, which is virtual this year. There will be a wide selection of beautiful and useful items this year. One item is the original ocean scene painting by artist Norma Chesnutt Bowman who is also a TWL member. Fayette Co. Deputies Stay Busy With Drug Arrests

On Friday, Feb. 18, at approximately 9:50 p.m. Deputy Dustin Kieschnick conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Kitchen Ln. in the Ellinger area for an equipment violation. A probable cause search was conducted, in which Oxycodone and Morphine pills were located, as well as marijuana and a firearm.
