Donate Life Month

In celebration of National Donate Life Month, St. Mark’s Medical Center is holding a donor registration event on Friday, April 29 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Representatives will answer questions and help register interested donors of organ, eye and tissue donation

VFD Fundraiser

The Muldoon Fire Department will have a drive-thru barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, May 21 at the station located at 333 N. 3rd St. in Muldoon. at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Plates include a large pulled pork sandwich, sausage link, chips and a cookie. Cost is $10 pre-sale only. Tickets can be picked up at the Muldoon Station from 9 a.m. until noon on April 30, May 7 and May 14 or the Cistern Country Store. Moravia Fest

Come to Moravia Fest on Saturday, April 30 for a tractor show beginning at 10 a.m. and tractor rides at 3 p.m. Music in the evening by Mark Halata and Texavia. Mayfest at Holy Rosary Church

Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, Hostyn, will celebrate Mayfest on Sunday, May 1 with a Polka Mass at 10 a.m. and barbecue pork and sausage with all the trimmings beginning at 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Plates are $12. Auction begins at 1 p.m. and bingo is at 1:30 until 5:30 p.m. Enjoy a fish pond, cake wheel, plant wheel, ring toss and duck grab. Summer Day Camp Registration

The City of La Grange Recreation Department will begin registration for the 2022 Summer Day Camp on Wednesday, May 4, 4-6 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl in La Grange. To register parents must have complete forms, a $20 Registration fee for t-shirts and backpack and pay for the participant(s) first and last week of camp. Youth must be entering Kindergarten through Sixth grade for the 2022-2023 school year. Camp will begin on Tuesday, May 31 and end on Friday, Aug. 5. Weekly fees are $100 first camper and $90 second camper and camp days begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. daily. Spaces are limited and will be on a first-come-first-serve basis at sign-up. Registration packets will be available on Monday, May 2, for parents to complete and return at time of sign-up. For additional information, contact the Recreation Department at (979) 968-5600.

Old High Hill Cemetery Decoration Day

Decoration Day at Old High Hill Cemetery will be held on Sunday, May 1. The Old High Hill Cemetery is located about three miles northwest of Schulenburg on FM 2672.

Industry Brethren Church Fundraiser

Industry Brethren Church will hold their 31st annual church fundraiser Sunday, May 1 at Industry Fireman’s Hall. Enjoy a barbecue beef and sausage meal beginning at 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tickets are $12 with dine in or plates to go. Auction is at noon. Enjoy Gospel singer Jerry Kramer from 11 a.m. until noon. Take in the country store and enjoy homemade desserts.

Muldoon Museum Meeting

The public is invited to join the regular monthly Muldoon Museum meeting. The meeting starts at 2 p.m. May 4.

Hermann Sons Life Meeting

Hermann Sons Life Rutersville will have their monthly meeting Wednesday, May 4 at 7 p.m. The lodge will furnish hamburgers and members are asked to bring a side or dessert.

La Grange Senior Citizens Group

The La Grange Senior Citizens Annual Meeting/Luncheon will be held at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange, on Thursday, May 5. Registration will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Door prizes will be awarded to ten lucky attendees who have registered by 10 a.m. Allison Mackenzie, Director of the Fayette Public Library, Museum and Archives, will address the group at 11 a.m. Lunch consisting of chicken breast, potatoes and gravy with sides will be served at 11:30 a.m.

CVICA BBQ Chicken Fundraiser

The Colorado Valley Independent Cattlemen’s Association (CVICA) fundraiser is being held on Thursday, May 5 at the La Grange KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. The meal will consist of BBQ chicken with buttered noodles, pinto beans and coleslaw. Drive-thru plates to go will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Plates are $12. Proceeds will go towards awarding scholarships to graduating students in Fayette, Lee and Colorado counties. Call the KC Hall to reserve your plates at (979) 968-5117.

Hot Dogs & Bake Sale

Just in time for Mother’s Day, St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinger will be selling hot dogs and having a bake sale on Saturday, May 7 serving from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Proceeds benefiting future ministries. Bluebonnet Club Casseroles Postponed

The La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Club has postponed the selling of their chicken spaghetti and Mexican taco casseroles to be held Saturday, May 7. This event is postponed until later in the year.

Jelly Making Workshop

Round Top Family Library will host a jelly making workshop with instructor Cathy Gau. Bring your apron on Saturday, May 7 beginning at 9 a.m. until noon at the library annex. Class will be limited at a maximum of 10 people. The library will provide the supplies and everyone will take a jar of homemade jelly home plus recipes and tips. Participants pay a $10 supply fee. Jack Hooper Day at the Ballpark

Turtle Wing Foundation will be hosting its 11th Annual Jack Hooper Day at the Ballpark on Saturday, May 7 at Wolters Park in Schulenburg. ArtWalk in Fayetteville

ArtWalk in Fayetteville will be held Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 8 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Treat yourself with a variety of fine art from quality artists and artisans. Enjoy live music, wine tastings, children’s activities and more. BBQ Chickens For Mothers Day

The Holy Cross Couples Club will have their annual BBQ chickens to-go on Mothers Day, May 8 at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds in Warda. Whole chickens are $12 and sauce is $2.50. Bake Sale #FightingForCesar

A bake sale benefitting Cesar Villasana will be held on Saturday, May 14, starting at 9 a.m. in front of Julie B in downtown La Grange. Cesar is currently at Texas Children’s Hospital fighting his second round of ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Please help ease the burden of the back and forth trips, medical bills, and missing work to be by his side.
