Hostyn and Plum Students Confirmed

Saturday the sacrament of Confirmation was celebrated for several students from Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Hostyn and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum. The ceremony was held at Hostyn with Bishop Brendan Cahill officiating. The confirmation candidates are (front, from left) Aubri Bernsen, Madison Fowler, Kylie Zbranek, Haylie Cooper; Back: William Bernsen, Madelyn Kates, Jena Jobb, Brooke Redding, Blakeleigh Ripper, Holdyn Cooper, Bennett Barber, Landri Hernandez and Mackenzie Kates. Prolific Author Moves to Warda

Elizabeth Dettling Moreno is a retired Language Arts teacher who became a published author after she started her next phase of life. As a teacher for twenty-four years as a teacher (20 of them in junior high in Bay City) and as a mother and grandmother, she learned how to entertain kids with her story telling abilities.

KJZT Family Life Society No. 31 Holds Quarterly Meeting Feb. 21

On Feb. 21, the first quarterly meeting of Society No. 31 of La Grange, St. Frances of Rome, KJZT Family Life was held at 4 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church Narthex meeting room. President Elizabeth Kallus called the meeting to order and led opening prayers especially remembering one member who had passed away since the previous quarterly meeting, Elizabeth Blaha. The pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited.

PAT Holds Fundraiser at Swiss Alp Hall

After a year of not being able to enjoy the company of PAT supporters, due to COVID-19, the Schulenburg/Weimar Parents as Teachers (PAT) was ecstatic about being able to hold their annual fundraiser in person this year. A “People for PAT” party was held on Feb. 5 at Swiss Alp Hall. The venue was beautiful, and approximately 160 people attended, enjoying fellowship along with the delicious appetizers and dinner.

CDA No. 1962 Meets Jan. 24

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962 held their monthly meeting Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. Members were asked to bring towels to donate to Annunciation Maternity Home.

The Brenham Banner-Press • The Washington County Commissioners Court approved a donation from Magnolia Oil & Gas for the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office to use for K-9 training. Ivan Faldyn and Brent Michalak with Magnolia Oil & Gas presented a check for $3,000 to the constable’s office during Commissioners Court on Tuesday.
