La Grange Advancing Host of Kids to State UIL

State-Bound!

State UIL qualifiers from La Grange, and their coaches, and how they did at regionals, left to right – Front row – Current Events, (first place team): Ella Pineda, Landon von Minden (first place individual), coach Melanie Bertsch, Amanda Urban (second place individual), JR Pineiro; Second row – Headline Writing coach Lucy Carr and Emma Coltrain (fourth place individual, state alternate); Mathematics coach Heather Muesse, Jayden Pearson (second place individual), Mathematics coach Elizabeth Wagner Kubicek; Back row: Literary Criticism, (first place team), Kylie Zbranek, Kylie Kelley, coach Laurie Stork, Abigail Eindorf (first place individual), Ella Wick (third place individual).

After one of their most successful regional meets in recent memory, La Grange High School has qualified a busload of kids to the state UIL academic meet next week at UT.

La Grange competed at the Region III-4A meet at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches last Saturday where first place teams, and the top three individuals in each event advance to state.

Here are those LHS state qualifiers:

Landon von Minden - 1st place Current Issues & Events (Coach Melanie Bertsch)

Amanda Urban - 2nd place Current Issues & Events (Coach Melanie Bertsch)

Landon von Minden, Amanda Urban, JR Pineiro, Ella Pineda - 1st place Current Issues & Events Team (Coach Melanie Bertsch)

Abigail Eindorf - 1st place Literary Criticism (Coach Laurie Stork)

Ella Wick - 3rd place Literary Criticism (Coach Laurie Stork)

Abigail Eindorf, Ella Wick, Kylie Zbranek, Kylee Kelley - 1st place Literary Criticism Team (Coach Laurie Stork)

Jayden Pearson - 2nd place Mathematics (Coaches Heather Muesse & Elizabeth Wagner Kubicek)

Additionally, Emma Coltrain placed 4th in Headline Writing (Coach Lucy Carr) so she is a state alternate.

Also at regionals, Garrett Harris was 6th place in Computer Science (Coach Tara Bennett). Also Garrett Harris, Jayden Pearson, Drew Harbers and Ty Trlicek were the 2nd place Computer Science Team (Coach Tara Bennett).
