The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office identified suspects who they say are responsible for the crime spree last week around Mullins Prairie. The thieves broke into Mullins Prairie Store last Monday and stole several bottles of liquor and cases of beer from.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek raised more than $120,000 for his re-election campaign during the first half of this year. Korenek will be up for election next year.

Daniel Benes of Daniel G. Benes Science Shows was the closing act for the Fayette Public Library’s summer reading program on Wednesday, July 19.

For Richard Chang, musicianship is in his bloodline. His parents, both opera singers, met while studying at a conservatory in China. Then, they immigrated to the Netherlands, where they raised Chang. From a young age, they encouraged him to become a musician as well, setting him up with piano lessons. He never expected to become a professional, but Chang found his passion for the art growing and growing until he knew that it’s what he was meant to do.

The Fayette County Gun Club is hosting its first annual Founders Day Shoot, which is open to the public. This year’s shoot will honor FCGC founder Dale Hutcherson with a 10-station, 100-bird Sporting Clay event on August 12.

Round Top Hermann Sons Lodge No. 151 will meet Thursday, July 27 at the Round Top American Legion Hall. Social hour at 6 p.m. and meeting at 6:30 p.m. Hotdogs will be furnished and members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert.

The Stanzel Family Foundation held its second annual Scholar Social on July 6, welcoming 13 new Stanzel Scholars. The Foundation held the social at the Stanzel ModelAircraft Museum at 311 Baumgarten St.

The Blinn College-Schulenburg Campus is offering a “Grow Your Garden!” course this fall covering topics such as preparing a garden, the garden calendar, organic pest control, plant propagation and seed saving, easy maintenance and how to attract birds and butterflies. The $99 class will be held Tuesdays from 6:30-8 p.m.

On July 5-7, Flatonia incoming junior Zachary Charanza, 16, competed at the 2023 USATF Junior Olympic Regional Championships at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. Charanza won a gold medal in discus and bronze in shot put.
