Charanza won a gold medal in discus and bronze in shot put. He also placed fifth in javelin. Charanza competed in the 17-18 men’s division.

Charanza also qualified in all three events to compete in the 2023 USATF National Junior Olympic Championships scheduled for July 24 to 30 at Hayward Field on the Campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.

Dating back to the mid-1960s, the USATF Junior Olympic program is the most visible youth athlete developmental program in the world. Nearly 70,000 youth athletes compete each year in the Junior Olympic Track & Field and Cross-Country programs.
