1973: Facelift for La Grange’s Historic Muster Oak
City council formally approved rehabilitation treatment for the historic Muster Oak in downtown La Grange. A contract awarded to Columbus Tree and Lawn Service involved cleaning the large cavity at the base of the oak, as well as several other smaller cavities, sterilization, filling in the cavities to provide bases for new growth and cutting out decayed branches.
Tejas Clinic Hosts Back 2 School Festival
The Tejas Clinic in La Grange hosted its 4th annual Back 2 School festival Saturday at their administration complex/ community garden between Travis and Colorado Streets in La Grange. Hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies were given out to kids. There were also free snow cones, hot dogs, face painting and other kids activities. Several other local businesses also had booths to join in the festival. Here are some images of the festivities. Amidst Well Outage/Drought, LG Urges Water Conservation
As everyone is aware, we are currently experiencing a dry period that is normal for this time of year. Normally our water production capacity is 1,400,000 gallons per day. The triggering criteria for mild drought conditions according to our Drought Contingency plan is 90 percent of our production capacity, or 1,260,000 gallons per day. We currently have one well that is out of service. Our daily water usage for the past three days has been 1,057,000 gallons per day. We are asking all La Grange Utility water customers to look for ways to voluntarily reduce their water use.
Communications Tower Proposed in La Grange
American Towers LLC is proposing to construct a 257-foot (overall height) selfsupporting lattice telecommunications tower located at 5401 N US Highway 77, La Grange, Fayette County, Texas (Parcel ID: 33302; 29° 58’ 41.7” N, 96° 52’ 54” W). The tower will be lit with dual red/white medium intensity flash lighting and red flashing side markers (E1 Avian). The tower facility will include an approximately 100-foot by 120-foot by 120-foot (triangular shaped) lease area, the associated easements, and a 30-foot buffer surrounding the proposed lease area. American Towers LLC seeks comments from all interested persons on any potential significant impact the proposed action could have on the quality of the human environment pursuant to 47 C.F.R. Section 1.1307, including potential impacts to historic or cultural resources that are listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
