Schulenburg Festival Packs in the Crowds
Lots of folks had a good time at the Schulenburg Festival this past weekend, which took place Aug. 3-6.
Organizers hadn’t yet counted ticket sales as of press time. But ample crowds packed the pavilion for the concerts Friday and Saturday night, headlined by Cory Morrow and William Clark Green.
The crowd was a little light on Thursday night, traditionally the night when families take their kids to the carnival. But the Schulenburg Lions Club decided not to sponsor the carnival this year, and Festival organizers were unable to book a carnival in time for the event.
Nevertheless, two nights of rodeo action, barbecue and chili cookoffs, contests of all sorts and a big parade on Sunday kept folks of all ages entertained.
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reported that officers made only one arrest related to the Festival. An individual was arrested for public intoxication after presenting a fake ID to police, he said. Other than that, there were no major issues in town, other than some increased traffic.
