Day Care Plans Fall Opening in La Grange

At Monday’s La Grange City Council meeting, the Council approved a replat for property on Mode Ln. where the new 4K Einstein Learning Center will be located. The La Grange Economic Development Corporation (EDC) owns the property. The EDC entered into a performance agreement last year to lease the property and eventually sell it to 4K Einstein Learning Center. The owners of that company have renovated an old warehouse on the property and converted into a children’s day care facility. Thompson said the EDC is negotiating a sale price with the daycare provider. He said the company plans to open the day care when school starts in the fall. – Andy Behlen

Blinn College student Lukas Collins will be attending one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious universities in the world as he continues his education. Collins, who graduates this spring with an Associate of Arts in History, has been accepted to Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.

Record Welcomes Summer Intern

Meadow Taylor-Marklin has joined The Fayette County Record as a summer intern. She is a 2025 La Grange High School Graduate. She is now a student at The University of Alabama majoring in Communications and minoring in Journalism, and is on track to graduate from college in December 2027.

La Grange City Secretary Janet Bayer administered the oath of office to the four city council members beginning their new terms in office on Monday night, May 11. Returning to the Council are Kathy Weishuhn for Ward 1 and Bryan Kerr for Ward 4.

Local Organizations Award Scholarships to RT-C Students

Bethlehem Lutheran Church On May 10, Bethlehem Lutheran Church recognized their scholarship recipients. The Eurlene J. Schmidt Baranowski Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Avery Nelius and second-year to Jill Eilers and Tess Eilers. The Willie Wickel Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Gretchen Sacks and Adler Goehring and second-year to Addison Faske.

AMEN Receives Reusable Bags

The AMEN Food Pantry recently received a generous donation of 100 reusable bags and 300 paper grocery bags from Social Outreach Ministry Committee members, Anne Mahry and Mary Vasek, of Holy Rosary and Sts. Peter and Paul Churches. AMEN continues to promote reusable bags for clients’ food selections instead of environmentally harmful single use plastic bags. Anyone who would like to donate new, or gently used/clean reusable grocery/shopping bags may drop off at AMEN located at 851 S. Reynolds Street in La Grange from 8:30-noon on Mondays. Ten Youth Confirmed in Shared Lutheran Ministry Churches

Over the last two Sundays, 10 youth were confirmed from the churches in Shared Lutheran Ministry. They are Miranda Gross, Brylee Brugger, Grayslin Blaschke, Brooklyn Mc-Coy, Emmry Blaschke, Mylah Blaschke, Gentry Roberts-Oppermann, Carson Muesse, Rowdy Hrbacek, and Chance Weishuhn.
Grayslin Blaschke, Brooklyn McCoy, Emmry Blaschke, Mylah Blaschke, Gentry Roberts-Oppermann, Carson Muesse, Rowdy Hrbacek, and Chance Weishuhn were confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville.

CASA Highlights Need For Foster Care Advocates In Local Communities

Each May, during National Foster Care Month, we raise awareness about the children and families involved in the foster care system and the need for more people to step up to support them. Last year, there were 27,343 children in the Texas foster care system, 134 of whom were right here in Bastrop, Fayette, and Lee Counties.
