Local Organizations Award Scholarships to RT-C Students
Bethlehem Lutheran Church
On May 10, Bethlehem Lutheran Church recognized their scholarship recipients. The Eurlene J. Schmidt Baranowski Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Avery Nelius and second-year to Jill Eilers and Tess Eilers. The Willie Wickel Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Gretchen Sacks and Adler Goehring and second-year to Addison Faske.
Round Top Lion’s Club
The Round Top Lion’s Club was proud to award a scholarship to a young deserving student. Susan Weyand presented the Round Top Lion’s Club scholarship to Makayla Smith at the RT-C AcademicAwards Banquet on May 6. The scholarship was in the amount of $3,000. Makayla will be attending Baldwin Beauty School.
Do Your Duty Club
On May 6, Round Top Do Your Duty Club President, Holly Johnson, along with DYD member Donna Barr, attended the RT-C Academic Banquet. During the banquet, the DYD proudly presented Makayla Smith and Jessica Rohde each with a $1,000 scholarship to support them in their continuing education endeavors.
Community Garage Sale
Round Top is planning their 2nd Annual Community- Wide Garage Sale. The Warrenton, Round Top, Ledbetter, Shelby, and Carmine communities are invited to participate. It will take place May 29-30. Participants can have a garage or porch sale, open a barn or storage unit, or have a sidewalk or yard sale. To be added to the map and participate, stop by “The 303 Round Top” at 303 N. Washington St. in Round Top, or contact event coordinator, Brandi Harper, at (469) 6826003.
A $20 per location fee is required to cover garage sale signs, flyers, maps, and advertising. Any excess money from participant fees will generously be donated to benefit the students of RT-C ISD. Maps will available online beginning May 24 and will be continually updated. Printed maps will be available to pick up on or after May 25 at Market Hill, Round Top Mercantile, or 303 Round Top (which is located right next to the Round Top State Bank.)
Round Top Festival Hill

Armed Forces Day
Come out to Busted Oak Cellars this weekend, on Saturday, May 16, Armed Forces Day, any time 11 a.m - 6 p.m. to support our troops. The Blue Star Moms (mothers of those who are serving or who have served in our armed forces) are hosting this special event. They are raising support for care packages to send to our troops deployed overseas in combat zones.
Each troop receives three boxes of goodies and necessities and postage runs approximately $25 per box. We can all help by dropping off needed items for the care packages or by giving a donation towards the postage costs of the boxes. Some of the more popular items you can purchase to donate are individual packets of snack crackers, cookies, fruit snacks, breakfast bars, granola bars, peanuts, beef jerky, single serve fruit cups, bags of microwave popcorn, packages of Ramen noodles, boxes of Cracker Jacks, or single serve mac & cheese cups.
If you are unable to attend, you can mail a donation to Blue Star Moms/Houston Area TX2, P.O. Box 6121, Kingwood, TX 77325-6121. Busted Oak Cellars is located at 6195 Round Top Road, Carmine. There will be music, wine for purchase, community, and an opportunity to give back to those who give so much.
RT-C Education Foundation
The RT-C Education Foundation was awarded a grant on May 6 at the Texas Women’s League 2026 Fundraising Reception which was held in La Grange at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center. RTCEF Board of Director Sherry Pennington accepted the award on behalf of the Foundation. RTCEF greatly appreciates the continued generous and dedicated support of TWL.
Historical Society
The Round Top Area Historical Society will be hosting a 250th Celebration Exhibition. The Grand Opening will take place on Sunday, May 24, from 2-5 p.m. at its Jaehne Pavilion, 397 E. Mill Street in Round Top for an exhibit of historic photos which were taken by three early area photographers. The exhibit is titled “Round Top, Preserved Moments in Time…a Photographic Time Capsule.” The collection will feature over 50 restored photos.
Round Top American Legion The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 and Auxiliary will be held on Thursday, June 4, at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Hwy. 237, Round Top, beginning at 6:30 p.m. All veterans in the Round Top-Carmine, Winedale, Warrenton, Ledbetter, Waldeck, and Rutersville area are encouraged to join Post #338 and share in fellowship with others who have served our nation.
RT-C ISD
As the school year comes to an end, only a few activities remain.
On May 18 at 6 p.m., the RT-C Band Concert will be held at Round Top Festival Hill. Students of all grade levels will be performing. The concert is open to the public, free of charge, and the community is encouraged to attend.
On May 19 from 6-8 p.m., the FFA Banquet will be held at the Carmine Hall. The RT-C High School Graduation & 8th grade Promotion will take place on May 22 at 6 p.m. at Round Top Festival Hill.
Rifle Association Hall
Monday Night Burger Social will be held on Monday, May 18, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall. The community is always invited.
Round Top Family Library Round Top Family Library hosts The Bluebonnet Mahjong Society in the historic Rummel Haus every week. Mahjong is quickly becoming a favorite weekly tradition in the community. Consider joining the group every Thursday from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. as they gather for both strategy and laughter. Diane Walla and Dale Craig lead the group in open play but if you are new to the game and want lessons, contact the library at info@ilovetoread.org to request mahjong instruction from Diane and Dale.
RT-Warrenton VFD
The annual fundraiser for the Round Top-Warrenton V.F.D. is well under way and consists of obtaining community support through raffle sales and free will donations. Donations can be mailed to: Round Top-Warrenton V.F.D., P.O. Box 194, Round Top, 78954. Raffle tickets can be purchased at Round Top Bank and other local businesses.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bethlehem Lutheran Church will not be holding their usual Sunday morning worship service in Round Top on May 17. Instead, congregation members are asked to attend the 8 a.m. church service at Waldeck Lutheran Church on Sunday, May 17, followed by the Waldeck Lutheran Church Annual Picnic, lunch, games, desserts, all taking place from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Waldeck. Tickets for a BBQ pork steak meal are $15 per plate and can be purchased by calling or texting (979) 966-3862.
Ruth Circle met on May 7 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church for their monthly bible study. Julie Wantland served as hostess. Those in attendance were Joys Baird, Jeanette Schoenst, Pearlie Wagner, Julie Wantland, Sherry Pennington, Kathy Schatte, Sedalia Ullrich, and Pastor John David Nedbalek. Pastor Nedbalek led the ladies in Bible study with a lesson focused on how Christians are called to grow in love for one another, to become better witnesses of God’s love in the sight of all people, and to pray for those who do not believe. Lastly, Joys Baird extended an invitation to all ladies of the community to attend the upcoming Annual Salad Supper at MLLC in Carmine on Wednesday, June 3, at 6 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to bring nonperishable goods for the A.M.E.N. Food Pantry in La Grange. Susan Schultz will be presenting the program that evening.
