Hot Oil Truck Flips Outside La Grange

It took three heavy duty tow wreckers to get this hot oil truck back on its wheels Friday morning. The crash happened around 9:45 a.m. on Friday, May 3, on Schubert Rd. north of La Grange. Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the accident. The hot oil truck, a type of equipment used in the oil and gas industry, was heading south on Schubert Rd. The investigating trooper said the driver was looking for driveway as he approached a slight curve in the road. When he noticed the curve, he turned hard to the right and then overcorrected. The driver said he was nearly able to stop the truck as it leaned over to the left. Unfortunately, the top-heavy rig tipped over into the ditch. The driver declined medical treatment. The oil tanks on the truck were empty. Some diesel spilled out of the fuel tank. The company owner arrived shortly after the wreck with environmental equipment and supplies to clean up the small spill. La Grange Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
