The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 20, at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Dr. in La Grange, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Check-in will begin at 10:45 a.m. with an option to purchase lunch for $20 inclusive, payable by cash or check. A short business meeting will commence at 11:15 a.m. followed by speaker, former state Senator Ms. Konni Burton, CEO of The Texan. The Texan is a statewide political news organization, founded in 2019 by Konni Burton and based in Austin. Dedicated to providing readers with factbased news regarding issues, policies, elected officials, and campaigns, The Texan is the alternative to the narratives and spin that are so pervasive in news media today. The Fayette County Firefighter’s Association reports the following calls for the week of March 3-9: Medical - 5 Vehicle Fire - 1 Accidents - 7 Fire Alarms - 4 Gas Leak/Odor - 1 Grass Fires - 4 Structure Fire - 1

Victim in Ledbetter Homicide Identified

Lee County Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger identified the victim of the homicide that took place north of Ledbetter earlier this month. Carlos Ramone Greene, 36, was found shot to death at property in the 1100 block of County Road 123, located between Ledbetter and Dime Box.

The population of northern Fayette County soared this week as vendors from across the world flocked to the Round Top and Warrenton areas for the Spring Antiques Show. Most venues officially open to the public Thursday. But a few early shoppers were strolling the fields Wednesday as vendors set up.

Job Shadow Event Shows LG Students the Working World

Last week several La Grange High School students fanned out across town to participate in the annual job shadow event which, according to program coordinator Kathy Toensing, is designed to expose junior and senior high school students to possible job or career opportunities available in our local community.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
