Fayette Electric Cooperative Announces Annual Meeting

Mark your calendars for Fayette Electric Cooperative’s Annual Meeting of members on Wednesday, July 17. This meeting will be held at the KC Community Center located at 190 South Brown Street in La Grange. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for registration, with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m.

W ill landowners lose their “ag exemption” for property taxes if they lease their land to a wind farm? Chief Appraiser Richard Moring of the Fayette County Appraisal District (Fayette CAD) said he does not believe so. In an interview with the Fayette County Record last Friday, Moring said he consulted with appraisal districts in other parts of the state where wind farms operate.

Local Students Hard at Work on Summer Community Theatre Play

More than 60 students from Fayette and surrounding counties came out to audition for Fayette County Community Theatre’s upcoming double feature plays “Narnia Storybook” and “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.” They range in age from 5 to 17 years old, and hail from La Grange, Giddings, Bastrop, Ellinger, Moulton, Weimar, Schulenburg, West Point, Plum and other areas.

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will have their next meeting on Saturday, July 6 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For anyone interested in learning about beekeeping, there will be a Beekeeping 101 Honey Bee Pests and Diseases from 4:30-5:30 p.m. A potluck dinner will follow, please bring your favorite entrée, side or dessert to share. Afterwards, there will be a business meeting, and a guest presentation. This is a great opportunity for new beekeepers to meet with club members that can serve as mentors and advisors. Membership dues for 2024 are $25/year, individual or family. Membership is not required to attend meetings, FaycoBeeks welcomes all attendees and encourages beekeepers and their families to join. FaycoBeeks meet the first Saturday of every month, more information can be found at faycobeeks.org.
