LG Police Officer’s Life Saved After Gunshot Wound

His Weapon Discharged While Secure in Holster; Same Pistol has Been Involved in Similar Incidents Nationwide A La Grange Police Officer suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound last Thursday after his duty weapon discharged while secure in his holster. The pistol, a SIG Sauer P320, has been the subject of several lawsuits due to similar incidents across the nation.

La Grange’s Sky-Hi Drive-In

America’s infatuation with drive-in theaters began in 1933 with the first known theater established in New Jersey. Popularity would continue to grow with the opening of the Drive-In Short Reel Theatre in Galveston on July 5, 1934, showing cartoons and short reels would be all the rage. America’s entry into WWII would soon slow the growth of drive-in theaters but the return of GIs from the war would rekindle the spark for entertainment away from the traditional movie theatre. The Baby Boomer generation would have a significant impact on the construction of drivein theaters reaching its peak in the middle 1950s, with the erection of some 4000 drive-ins nationwide the following announcement appeared in the June 4, 1948 edition of the Fayette County Record:

The first Sunday in May is always the Memorial Service at Pitman Cemetery which in the past has been a time of reconnection and gathering for family and friends from all around. This year the rain and stormy weather hindered many and the crowd was slim. Everyone who was able to attend enjoyed catching up with each other. LGISD to Eliminate Bus Stops on Hwy 71 Following Fatality

School District Has Targeted Places to Completely Pull Off Highway; US 77 Routes Now Being Examined La Grange ISD Superintendent Andy McHazlett said the school is working on a plan to eliminate bus stops on SH 71 following the fatal crash that happened behind a school bus last week. The wreck happened after school last Tuesday while a bus was unloading kids near the Tuck Stop RV Park near West Point.

A crash at Hwy. 90 and Interstate 10 between Schulenburg and Weimar highlighted the danger at that intersection last week.
