House Saved From Fire in Schulenburg
Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department battled a house fire on Baumgarten St. last Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to a bedroom. Fire Chief Darren Guentert said flames gutted everything in the room. The rest of the structure survived with only some smoke damage, he said.
SVFD got the call around 6:09 p.m. they responded with 33 personnel. Guentert said the residents got out of the house without any injuries.
Firefighters began attacking the blaze while a crew from the City of Schulenburg cut off the electricity. Once the electricity was put off, firefighters went inside and knocked down the remaining flames.
They brought it under control and left the scene around 7:20 p.m. Fayette County EMS and Schulenburg Police assisted at the scene as well.
