The World Comes to Feast in Praha – for the 169th Year!

The 169th annual Praha Picnic took place on Aug. 15, as it does every year, on the Feast Day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This year it fell on a Thursday. But that didn’t keep many people away. A huge crowd showed up to enjoy a lunch of fried chicken and Praha’s famous beef stew (far right). The Ennis Czech Boys, Texas Sound Check and the Lost Cause Band provided music throughout the day for dancing (right).

Tax Abatements Could Provide Safeguards, Executive Says

One of the last people who spoke at the battery storage meeting in Warda last Thursday offered an alternative view. Stefaan Sercu, a retired energy executive who lives in Austin County, said he’s been involved in dozens of battery storage projects around the country.

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host Game Day on Thursday, Aug. 22 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Fair Little Miss & Mister Contestants Named

As the Fayette County Fair nears and the Queen and Jr. Miss contestants are continuing to work hard in selling passes, seven kids are vying for the Little Miss and Mister titles that will be awarded at the pageant. The pageant is slated for Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7:00 pm. Opening ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the main stage as we kick off Fayette Co’s Country Pride, County Wide Fair. Thursday night admission is free to all and the pageant will include a special performance by John Dujka.

185 Years of Faith

One of Fayette County’s oldest Christian congregations celebrates its 185th anniversary this Sunday. New Life Methodist Church in La Grange, which dates back to the time of the Texas Revolution, will host a celebration this Sunday, Aug.
