Representative Stan Kitzman Appointed to Texas Sunset Advisory Commission
Representative Stan Kitzman was appointed to the Sunset Advisory Commission by the Texas Speaker of the House Dade Phelan effective immediately. The Sunset Commission reviews state agencies due to be abolished by the Texas Sunset Act and submits a report of findings with recommendations.
“The Sunset Advisory Commission provides an essential role to state government by holding agencies accountable to the citizens of Texas by reviewing the operations and best practices needed for Texas government agencies. This is a distinct honor as well as a great responsibility, the speaker has tasked me with and I look forward to serving on such a distinguished committee,” said Rep. Kitzman.
The commission consists of five senators, five representatives, and two members of the public, appointed by the Lieutenant Governor and the Speaker of the House. Over the last 30 years, Sunset reviews have abolished 42 agencies, consolidated another 53, and had an estimated positive fiscal impact of $1 billion, returning $16 for every $1 spent on Sunset State Representative Kitzman represents the good people of Austin, Colorado, Fayette, Fort Bend (part), Waller, and Wharton counties. He currently serves on Agriculture & Livestock, Natural Resources, and Rules and Resolutions committees.
