This Year’s Fair Dedicated in Memory Of Longtime Volunteers Svec & Rogers

This year’s Fayette County Fair, which is being held Labor Day Weekend, is being dedicated to two longtime fair volunteers who died in the past year.

J. Carroll Rogers passed away Feb. 20, 2024 and Theo Svec passed away June 23, 2024.

Svec was a member of the Fayette County Fair Association for over 50 years. He served as Vice President of the Fair Association for a number of years, and was in charge of ticket sales.

He served as Parade Marshall in 1994 and was honored as a Lifetime Honorary Member in 2010.

Rogers’ volunteer work included the La Grange City Council, the Fayette County Fair Board, the Optimist Club, Coordinator for the American Red Cross, Citizen Patrol Officer, and he was awarded the Senior Citizen of the Year in 2012.
