Animal Shelter Sees 12 Adoptions Last Week of February

As of Feb. 28, the total intake for 2025 for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stands at 245: 128 dogs and 117 cats in need. There are 77 animals in care: 62 dogs and 15 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to a rescue partner.

Spring Break on the Bluff Returns

Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Sites are excited to welcome the new Spring season with the third annual Spring Break on the Bluff, a familyfriendly series of programs showcasing the sites’ unique history. From Saturday, March 8 through Sunday, March 16, this event offers nine days of activities inspired by 19thcentury crafts, food practices, and pastimes. Each program is from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and is included with sites admission.

Impromptu Group Comes to the LG Square for Different Reasons

An impromptu Sunday gathering quickly became a group of 40 Ukraine supporters. Blue and yellow flags fluttered in the wind, horns were honking and thumbs faced up for Ukraine, a country that has been plagued by full scale Russian invasion for three years. A few passers-by at the SW corner of the La Grange Square did have different views on American aid to Ukraine.

LG KC Fish Fry

The La Grange Knights of Columbus will host a drivethru only Fish Fry Fundraiser Friday, March 7 and March 14 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange K of C Community Center located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal will consist of fried fish, hushpuppies, cole slaw, pinto beans and buttered potatoes for $15 per plate. The meal is on a first come, first served basis.

Kyle Janda Ordained a Catholic Deacon

After six years of preparation, La Grange native Kyle Janda was officially ordained into the permanent diaconate of the Catholic Church by Bishop Vasquez Saturday morning at San José Parish in Austin.
