The League of Women Voters of South Central Texas celebrated Women’s History Month by honoring exceptional local women at its third annual Women Making History event Sunday at Casino Hall in La Grange. Eight outstanding women were selected from community nominations to receive recognition in categories including courage, determination, heroism, heritage, initiative, steadfastness, and vision. A packed house showed up at the Casino Hall in La Grange Sunday afternoon for the Women Making History event sponsored by The League of Women Voters of South Central Texas. Eight women were honored for their contributions to this area. Additionally, three student essay writers were honored for their work about notable Texas women. 5-Day or Hybrid Plans Being Considered A strictly four-day school week is no longer an option at La Grange ISD. After some tweaks based on teacher feedback, now the district’s school board will decide later this month, between two plans – a return to the traditional five-day week, or a hybrid plan that calls for fivedays weeks in August, September, January and February, and four-day weeks (with Fridays off) the others months of the school year.

A local woman had the unexpected blessing of delivering her own granddaughter last month. Patricia Good and her husband Craig have lived in the Warrenton area for about 25 years, and all three of their kids grew up here.

La Grange Volunteer FIre Department responded to a fire at the Fayette Power Project Thursday, March 6. Firefighters got the call around 11 a.m.

A Union Pacific (UP) locomotive came off the tracks in Fayetteville Friday morning. The incident happened around 10 a.m.

Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Sites are excited to welcome the new Spring season with the third annual Spring Break on the Bluff, a family- friendly series of programs showcasing the sites’ unique history. Currently running through Sunday, March 16, this event offers activities inspired by 19th-century crafts, food practices, and pastimes. Each program will be held from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and is included with sites admission.
