Car Flips on Bluff Road, Extraction Needed

An SUV rolled over about midway up the Bluff on US 77 Friday morning, March 7.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crash, but a report was not available in time for this publication.

The single-vehicle accident involved a white Ford SUV. It lost control and rolled over near the famous gorilla statue.

La Grange Volunteer Fire Department responded. Fire Chief Frank Menefee said firefighters used extraction tools to cut the vehicle apart and rescue the driver, who was the sole occupant.

Fayette County EMS transported the male driver to South Austin Medical Center in stable condition, said EMS Director Josh Vandever.

Traffic was shut down at the Bluff for about 45 minutes while emergency workers cleared the wreckage.
