On Tuesday, April 15, of Holy Week, the St. Rose of Lima Catholic School 8th graders attended the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral in Victoria. It was a beautiful celebration with the bishop and all priests and deacons of the diocese together. The cathedral was full with students from all diocesan schools and diocesan parishioners.

The La Grange baseball team had a dominating performance Thursday in their regular season home finale, beating Smithville 5-0 as Ty Stark pitched a no-hitter. Stark and the six other La Grange seniors (Max Dixon, Kyler Lamza, Hunter Sabo, Bradyn Prasek, Holdyn Cooper and Braxton Dahse) were honored before the game – and their moms threw out the ceremonial first pitches.

They are Myra Dippel – elementary school special education; Shelby Lane – assistant band director; Brittany Oruonyehu – high school teacher/coach; and Steven Richards – high school German teacher.

While tariffs dominate the national financial news, consumer sales in Fayette County have been strong so far in 2025. The county’s local sales tax revenue is up 16.9% for the first four months of the year, the third highest increase among the nine area counties that levy the optional tax on retail sales.
