Fayette County Residents Encouraged Not to Burn

Fayette County officials are receiving calls from residents asking for the burn ban to be reinstated. As they consider this, they are asking everyone to be mindful of the dry and windy weather conditions and encourage them not to burn.

“We are aware that part of county did receive rain lately, but a large section did not. The forecast calls for windy and dry conditions through the week. While rain is in the forecast, at this time, the best chance for rain is Sunday and that’s a 40% chance. It is important that all residents realize now is not the time to burn,” said Angela Hahn, Fayette County emergency management coordinator.

“This is a holiday weekend and all of our volunteer fire departments want their members home with the families as we celebrate Easter. We are asking people to be mindful of the dry conditions and not to burn,” added Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller.

If Fayette County does not receive measurable rainfall over the next week or so, the Commissioners Court will have no choice but to issue a burn ban, Hahn said.
