LG Assistant City Manager Frank Menefee Resigns
Frank Menefee resigned from his post as Assistant City Manager for the City of La Grange about two weeks ago.
City Manager Jack Thompson confirmed the news in an interview with the Record after Monday night’s City Council meeting. The Record tried reaching Menefee for comment, but he had not responded by the time this publication went to press.
“He resigned, that’s all I know,” Thompson said.
Thompson said Menefee did not give him a reason for resigning.
“It was unexpected,” he said.
Menefee also serves as fire chief for the La Grange Volunteer Fire Department.
“We appreciate all he did for the community,” Thompson said. “He’ll still be around, because he’s still the fire chief. So he’ll still be active in the community. And that’s where his passion lies, with the fire department. He really pours himself into that.”
Thompson said he hasn’t yet made a decision about the future of the assistant city manager position.
“Assistant city managers can come from different specialties, certain backgrounds,” Thompson said. “Like planning and development, or finance, or like Frank, who was operations, they can have a public works background. I’m taking a step back and evaluating what direction I want to see that go in. I’m not in a hurry to replace it right now.”
