Historic Cemetery Celebration

The Cesko Narodni Hrbitov cemetery in Ellinger was established c. 1884. In 2000, the cemetery was designated a Historic Texas Cemetery and this year, on May 18 at 2 p.m., the 25th anniversary of this designation will be commemorated. The Board that oversees the maintenance and preservation of this historic cemetery invites the community to come out to the cemetery for this celebration.

DAR Smith McMillan Chapter Announces Scholarship Recipients

Smith-McMillan Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, will award $3500 in scholarships to students in Fayette County in 2025. The scholarships are awarded using a points system that takes into consideration their academic prowess, leadership roles, and an original essay, as well as their school, community, and church activities.
