Drug Take Back Program Nets 1,560 Pounds

In November 2017, a new county wide program was underway to take action to reduce prescription drug abuse by making it easier to properly dispose of unused medications. The La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Club, La Grange Police Department, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, City of La Grange, St. Mark’s Medical Center, and Second Chance Emporium partnered to take action to reduce prescription drug abuse by making it easier to properly dispose of unused medication.

Buccaneer Band Experience Held at Blinn

More than 150 band students from area high schools had the opportunity to perform with the Blinn College Buccaneer Band during halftime of a recent football game at Cub Stadium. As part of the inaugural Buccaneer Band Experience, high school students took part in a day of activities that included joining the Blinn band for its halftime performance during the Blinn-Cisco football game.

Nechanitz Barn Burns in Fire

A barn burned down on FM 2981 in the Nechanitz area on Monday, Sept. 19. La Grange Volunteer Fire Department got the call around 3 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a barn fully engulfed in flames with a tractor, shredder and gooseneck trailer inside.

Car Seats Save Lives But Nearly Half Are Misused

Vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death among children in the nation, so the Texas Department of Transportation is reminding parents that one of the most important things they can do to protect children is to properly install and use a car seat. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that 46% of all child car seats are misused.
