Hailey Daugherty, Corey Lyons Married in Muldoon
Corey Carson Lyons and Hailey Lauren Daugherty were married at 10 a.m. March 9, a Sunday morning ceremony at The Wedding Tree at Live Oak Creek Ranch in Muldoon. Their ceremony was officiated by Pastor William Martin of Trinity Reformed Church of Muldoon.
The bride is the daughter of Tim and Cyndi Daugherty of Parker, Texas and Grand daughter of Lois Hole of Dallas, and a graduate of Texas A&M university with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and a Master’s Degree, she is currently a third-year student in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
The groom is the son of Scott and Ann Lyons of Muldoon, and grandson of Bobby and Shirley Lyons of Katy, and the maternal grandson of the late Marshall Wellington Doggett III and Patricia Ann Overholt Doggett of Houston. Also, grand-nephew to Ralph and Libby Overholt and great grandson of the late Ralph and Irene Overholt, Sr. Corey is a graduate of Texas A&M University of College Station, with a Construction Science degree from the School of Architecture and a minor in Business.
The bride had a wedding dress appointment with Terry Costa and selected a Morilee design with a low back and strait white satin waist and a train of satin and lace. The bride chose select pieces of her mother’s wedding dress to incorporate into a vail as a beautiful ensemble.
In attendance were immediate family and many more family and friends as well. It was a beautiful brisk Sunday morning as the wedding party of Bridesmaids and Groomsmen came to the front of the Live Oak in anticipation of the arrival of the Bride and Groom. Pastor Will asked, “Who gives this Bride’s hand in marriage” and Hailey’s Father responded, “Her mother and I” as he gave his daughters hand to the groom and the ceremony continued and a wonderful ceremony ensued as well as a little fun and the couple later put two letters in a box the groom built and they hammered a few taps and it closed. The vows and declarations were completed, and as the couple reached some of the last pews of their departure, the groom dipped the bride for a fun celebratory kiss and off they went.
The reception followed at the Muldoon Mercantile as guests selected hand etched glasses with the Bride and Grooms initials made by the groom and after the couple arrived breakfast was served. The breakfast fare was a delicious array of morning classics including scrambled eggs, fried chicken strips, sausage, bacon, chopped potato hash browns, waffles, warm syrup, biscuits and gravy all prepared by Mik’s Catering of Faltonia.
The bride’s cake was dawned with beautiful large sunflowers and the grooms cake displayed a feisty bass a top a pond with splashing water and cat tails and grass and surrounded below with antlers and shot gun shells, both baked and decorated at Susie’s Bakery of Weimer.
The DJ and singer-song writer, Victor Rodriguez of Flatonia, played all of the traditional songs with the couple’s dance and groom and his mother and the bride with her father and the floor was open for everyone. The couple’s dance was quite the show including complicated spin patterns, swings, lifts and dips, as both the bride and groom are avid dancers. Hailey has been a ballroom dancer for quite some time and Corey loves a variety of dancing styles and has been on a winning team at Texas A&M University’s “Songfest” philanthropy fund raiser every year and was on the board his senior year.
Then Hailey and Corey departed in a tunnel of bubbles and drove off in the grooms 1957 Jeep Willys, tin can stringers in tow. The couple headed for Hyatt Hill Country for the evening to fly out the following morning for a honeymoon in St Lucia. The bride will complete her fourth year of veterinary medicine with Texas A&M University, College Station, and the groom is currently employed as a Project Manager with Farmer Construction of Houston. The bride and groom currently reside in Bryan.
