Reynolds Recognized for 50 Years of Service to Daughters of the American Revolution

The Smith-McMillan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) gathered on April 19 at the historic Round Top Rifle Club, where members were treated to a presentation by Rifle Club President Michael Sachs, a fifth-generation member of the organization.

Sachs captivated attendees with a discussion on the history of dance hall preservation and the enduring significance of the Rifle Club, an “all-men’s” organization that has played a central role in the community since the late 1800s. Michael emphasized the club’s commitment to modernizing while preserving its legacy, noting that it continues to serve as a vibrant community center. Among its many contributions, the club remains the starting and ending point for Round Top’s Fourth of July Parade, the longest-running Independence Day parade west of the Mississippi.

The meeting also celebrated milestone Membership achievements within the DAR, recognizing dedicated members for their years of service: 15 years: Patricia Allen, Kathryn Callaway, and Jeraldine Frenzel 20 years: Mary K. Gunn, Suzanne Batchelder, and Cheryl Schmidt 30 years: Kaye Baker 35 years: Susan Davis and Julie Elliott

50 years: Sally Reynolds, who received a certificate and an honorary pin DAR Regent Carolyn Caflisch and Treasurer Jackie Head proudly presented the 50-year award to Sally Reynolds, honoring her dedication and contributions to the Daughters of the American Revolution.
