As of April 18, the total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter for 2025 is 444: 235 dogs and 209 cats in need. There are 96 animals in our care: 60 dogs and 36 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to a rescue partner.

The annual Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department feast will be on Sunday, April 27 at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall. BBQ chicken and sausage and all the trimmings will be $15 starting at 11 a.m. for dine in plates and 10:30 a.m. for drive through. Chicken will be sold at the pits for $12. The auction will begin at 1 p.m.
