It’s hard for me to pick just one Christmas moment that I cherish the most because so many are close to my heart. One is being a child at our Havel family gathering with tons of games, great food and snacks.

The City of La Grange Recreation Department will host Breakfast with Santa at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl St. West Gym, on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. Participants can bring their wish list to Santa, take photos, enjoy breakfast, be creative with crafts, play games, and win prizes. This event is free for all ages and is sure to be a fun-filled morning of fun.

Monument Hill’s Trail of Lights Begins This Weekend

The German-Texan Christmas spirit has returned to Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill this December, with the Sites’ annual Trail of Lights spreading holiday cheer on the Bluff. Beginning Friday, December 9, and continuing during select evenings through December 23, the grounds will be open for guests to enjoy a pathway of themed Christmas light displays and experience the 19th century yule traditions of Heinrich Kreische and his family.

Enjoy Some Art At Country Christmas

The unique small town shopping experience is part of the well-loved American story. This week’s Country Christmas Holiday and Parade in Fayetteville is a much anticipated, special day for merchants and area ranchers and residents. Texas artist Cheryl Long brings her own magic, coming off a phenomenal year, receiving commissions from galleries throughout the West. She returns to her Pure Art Gallery on the Square for the 2022 holiday weekend, after success at the Round Top Art Revival show at Town Hall. This year, vintage western collectibles, cashmere scarves and embroidered jackets answer the call for unique, custom pieces that are truly works of art.

Animal Shelter Update

As of Dec. 2, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 1,327: 624 dogs and 703 cats in need. As of Dec. 2, the shelter has 90 animals in care: 64 dogs/26 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.
