This past weekend, three members of the Schulenburg High School band program traveled to Texas A&M Commerce to participate in the 64th annual Jr./Sr. Honor Band. Students are selected based on directors nomination and the student’s academics and musical accomplishments. This is the first time Schulenburg has ever been represented at this event. Schulenburg was one of 39 schools represented and the smallest school in attendance. Students auditioned for chair placement with students from 2A-6A schools. Senior and Alto Saxophone player Kassidy Kubala placed 1st chair (top spot) in her respective band. Other students Teagan Faith and Yahaira Guerrero placed well in the band as well. The students performed a concert in the Jack and Lou Finney Concert Hall on the campus of TAMUC where they were conducted by guest composer, Brian Balmages and conductor Jeff Bradford.
