Asleep in the Drive-In With Open Beer
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of May 25-31.
Animal Complaint
On May 25, Officer Reyden Svatek responded to the 200 block of Simpson for a dead animal. Officer arrived on scene to find a possum that was not “playing possum.” Officer assisted in disposing of the dead possum.
On May 26, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 800 block of Wolf for an injured baby deer. Upon arrival officer was unable to locate the baby deer.
Accident
On May 26, McFadden responded to the intersection of Kessler and Summit for an accident.
Citizen Assist
On May 25, Officer Hailee Vincent assisted a couple from Houston who lost their dog at the Texan in the 200 block of W. I-10. Officer provided them with a one-night stay from the Ministerial Alliance and helped search for the dog.
On May 25, Svatek assisted the couple at the Texan who were searching for their dog. Officer watched the security footage with management but was unable to view the dog on camera with the approximate time provided.
Criminal Trespass
On May 27, Officer MD Krenek was dispatched to the 200 block of East Avenue regarding a criminal trespass warning being served, Officer met with caller who requested a criminal trespass warning be issued to her grandson. Complainant advised the grandson is verbally abusive towards her and she is in fear he may harm her.
Civil Matter
On May 29, Svatek was dispatched to the 700 block of
N. Main regarding a civil matter at the storage facility.
Drugs
On May 27, Krenek was dispatched to the 100 block of Kessler regarding possible found marijuana. A plastic baggie was placed on a trash can near the washateria. Upon arrival officer found a green leafy substance, but the substance did not smell like marijuana. It was possibly a spice of some kind. The substance was destroyed in camera view.
Disturbance
On May 26, Officer Jeffrey Whited was dispatched to the 1300 block of Summit for a verbal disturbance involving a threat made to the caller by her husband. Officer spoke to parties involved.
Suspicious Vehicle/Person
On May 27, Krenek was advised by a caller of a truck/ trailer that was in his shop for tire repair was the same truck that jack knifed over the weekend. No one on scene had a drivers license. Caller advised they are hauling equipment that is not strapped down and are obviously overweight.
On May 27, Whited noticed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Texan. Officer spoke with the driver, and he advised he was tired and decided to stop and sleep for a bit.
Nuisance
On May 30, Whited was dispatched to the 200 block of St. John Road for loud music. Upon arrival officer found a lot of people around the apartment complex playing music from their vehicles and porches. Each one was advised to turn it down or off.
Traffic Stop
On May 25, Svatek stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for an expired registration (7-24) Driver received a citation. On May 25, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a driver in the 80 block of Kessler for a defective headlamp. A warning was issued.
On May 25, Vincent stopped a driver n the 600 block of Summit for defective stop lamps. A warning was issued.
On May 25, Vincent stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding a warning was issued.
On May 25, Vincent stopped a driver in the 700 block of Kessler for speeding. A warning was issued.
On May 25, Vincent stopped a driver for driving without lights when required in the 100 block of Kessler. A citation was issued for expired registration (2-24).
Welfare Check
On May 25, Vincent was dispatched to the 100 block of Kessler for a welfare check on an elderly woman in a wheelchair. Officer spoke with an individual that advised this woman takes this route all the time and did not need help.
On May 30, Whited responded to the 40 block of Kessler for a welfare check.
On May 31, Whited was dispatched to the 40 block of Kessler for a driver passed out in the drive through. Driver was asleep upon officers’ arrival. Officer observed an open can of Busch light in the console. In lieu of being arrested the driver called his mother and he was issued a citation for open container. Driver’s mother took him home.
