Four Arrested Over New Years Weekend New Years Weekend

On Saturday, Dec. 31, Sgt. Ryan Meagher stopped a vehicle near Schulenburg for a traffic infraction. The driver was found to have an active warrant out of Fayette County for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Member. Marie Hranicky, 33 of Schulenburg, was arrested on the warrant.

Fayette County Spring Coyote Control Contest Began Jan. 2

The Fayette County Spring Coyote Control Program began on Jan. 2 and ends April 28. The contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to assist in the control of coyotes in Fayette County. Coyotes cause predation on livestock and result in economic losses to agricultural producers in the county.

Training for Daycare Teachers January 17

Turtle Wing Foundation and Parents as Teachers have teamed up to bring another continuing education training for daycare teachers. The workshop, titled “Moving, Grooving & Creating” will be held Tuesday, Jan 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Weimar.

Bluebonnet Master Gardener Intern Class Now Open

Applications are now being taken for the 2023 Bluebonnet Master Gardener Intern Class which will be held in La Grange. For anyone interested in participating in the Master Gardener training program, the deadline for signing up is Thursday, January 19th. There is a fee of $200 per participant, which will cover the cost of materials, and defray speaker expenses. An application must be completed and turned in with the money in order to be considered registered. Class size is limited. The classes will be held on Thursday mornings beginning on January 19, 2023 and continuing through April 20, 2023.

New Antiques Venue Opening

On March 18, 2023, antique industry veterans Ted and Jennifer Fuehr will open Antique Round Top, an 8,000-squarefoot, climate-controlled venue, showcasing the wares of their company American Spirit Antiques along with curated collections from a select group of antique dealers. “When you’ve been in the business for 40 years like I have, you know magic when you see it—Round Top still has that magic,” said Ted, who along with wife Jennifer, is based in Shawnee, Kansas, and has been exhibiting at Round Top for the past 15 years. “Because of the quality, diversity and price of the offerings, Round Top attracts renowned designers from across the country who are on missions for their clients and themselves as well as committed, discerning shoppers who come intending to buy.”
