Help For the Hill Country

Locals Finding Varied Ways to Use Their Talents to Help Flood Victims

  • Kase Bubela, 11, right, and his cousin Chandler Bubela, 9, left, spent two days last week in front of Anytime Fitness on North Main St. in Schulenburg selling treats and lemonade to raise money to help the people devastated by the flooding in the Hill Country on July 4. The first day the Bubelas made close to $500, said their grandfather, Kenneth Kocurek, who made a bunch of rice krispy treats to restock their stand for Day 2. In all, the kids raised over $1,100.
