Aboriginal artwork by Paddy Japaljarri Sims, one of the most famous Walpiri painters. The absence of ambient light in the Australian desert allows extraordinary viewing of the stars. This painting is called “Milky Way Dreaming.” It will be part of a lecture by world traveler and local resident, Mary Koenig. Mary will give a 45-minute talk this coming Saturday that promises to illuminate the world of Aboriginal art. Her subject will be “Tales of Aboriginal Art” and will be in Gallery II of the Texas Quilt Museum (TQM), Saturday, January 21 at 3:00 pm. Mary’s talk connects to the Museum, which offers Aboriginal fabric for sale in the Museum store. These mesmerizing fabrics boast colorful designs with incredible stories behind their creation. The TQM will have free admission beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and everyone is welcome to come and explore the museum and enjoy the world of Aboriginal art.
