RRNG to Discuss Sponsorship, Recruitment, and Retention

The Rural Non-Profit Networking Group (RNNG) is an opportunity for the organizations that do so much good in our rural communities to share their missions and visions, discuss community needs and partnership opportunities, bring in experts to facilitate growth and professionalism, and simply connect to maximize the efficiency and impact that participants can bring to Fayette, Colorado, Lavaca, and surrounding counties. This month, the gathering will be hosted by Texas Women’s League on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m. The gathering will be held at the Frisch Auf Valley Country Club 575 Country Club Dr., La Grange.

Cedar Park Man Arrested After Striking Tree on Private Property

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 30, Deputy Herman Olvera responded to a call on Blaschke Rd. near Schulenburg about a suspicious vehicle that had driven onto the caller’s property and struck a tree before driving back to the road and stopping.

Mueller Fires Moreau Minutes After Being Sworn-In as Judge

New Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller wasted no time in making his first big decision as leader of the County. Mueller fired Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator Craig Moreau just a few minutes after Mueller’s swearing-in ceremony on Sunday morning, New Year’s Day.

Grants Rolled in During 2022

Fayette County received its second allocation of funding through the American Rescue Plan in May of 2022. The County continued to use the funds to fill gaps identified county-wide. The renovation of the Flatonia EMS station was completed, as was a crew’s quarter in Round Top at the Round Top fire station. The Schulenburg EMS station was nearing completion at the end of the year.

Record Breaking Plastic Prices Aid Recycling Center

It’s been another great year for the Fayette County recycling industry. The first three quarters have seen record breaking plastic prices because of sorting, the best in the history of the Fayette County program.

Airport Has Lengthy Wait-List

All county hangars have been continuously occupied this year and there are 45 names on the waiting list for a hangar. New weather reporting equipment has been stalled and commissioned by the FAA.

Remembering the Past to Start Something New

The start of the new year brings all things anew. New feelings, new chances, new dreams, and especially new beginnings, and a little studio in Ammannsville reminded me that sometimes we must remember the past to start anew.
