Emerging Artists Competition Seeks Entries

Arts for Rural Texas proudly presents Emerging Artists, an annual youth art competition and exhibition that showcases the creativity and talent of rural Texas students. Held each year at the Ross Gallery in Fayetteville, the competition invites public, private, and homeschooled students in grades 6–12 to submit their original artwork for a chance to earn ribbons and a share of $5,000 in cash prizes.

Opry Returns to La Grange June 16

The Fayette County Country Music Club will host their monthly Opry on Monday, June 16 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in La Grange. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $8 Entertainers this month are Byron Wren and Bailey Mathison, Victor Rodriguez, Waynd Brown and Cyndi Gurley.

Hope For Hospital Reopening

Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever said he and County Judge Dan Mueller met Tuesday with representatives of a health care organization interested in buying the St. Mark’s Medical Center property.

Fun Times at ‘Vanity Fur’ Fashion Show Fundraiser

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter’s (GJAS) annual Homeward Bound fundraiser was a hit. “Vanity Fur” held at Carmine Hall on May 17, and the community came together in support of the nonprofit and succeeded in raising much needed funds for the community animal shelter.
