Dance Club

The Breakfast Club at the Round Top Area Historical Society (RTAHS) announces its first film of the 2025 season, “On the Beach” starring Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner for Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Jaehne pavilion on the historical campus at 397 E. Mill St. Round Top behind the US Post Office. The film will start at 10 a.m. and end at 12:15 p.m. Join earlier for breakfast at 9 a.m. for coffee, juice, Belgium waffle, sausage and fruit. All is free but please register in advance for breakfast by texting your initials and the number of people attending at (979) 702-0525.

The Swiss Alp Dance Club is having a dance Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Schulenburg Hall located at 405 West St. in Schulenburg. The Dujka Brothers will be providing live music from 2-5:30 p.m. The public is always welcome.

FWS Meeting

Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a monthly meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, Aug. 18 at 4:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.

Registration 8 a.m. Program 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. lunch 12 p.m. Interested attendees may also visit the Fayette County Extension Office to register for the event. Preregistration is $30/person ($32 credit card) on or before Aug. 15 and onsite registration is $40/person ($42 credit card). Checks can be made payable to the Leadership Advisory Board and delivered to the Fayette County Extension Office. The registration fee includes a meal, conference proceedings, and refreshments throughout the seminar.

The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life will be meeting on Monday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.

Chamber Hosts Marketing Lunch & Learn

The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will host its next Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Fayette Electric Cooperative, 2111 N. Von Minden Road. Leonard Nuckolls, vice president and part-owner of Contemporary Communications, will share practical tips and creative strategies to help businesses from local shops to national brands achieve their marketing goals. VFW Post 5254 & Auxiliary Meeting Members of both of the VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange are asked to come out and participate in the upcoming monthly meetings being held at the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds on Tuesday, Aug. 19. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. the Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal, after which the Post meets. Prospective new members are invited to attend and find out what the VFW and its’ Auxiliary are all about and meet Commander Richard Gray and President Marilyn Kothmann.

Ammannsville Dubina Farm Bureau The Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau local will hold their next meeting, Tuesday Aug. 19, at the Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau Hall. It will start at 6:30 p.m. A potluck meal is being planned, so each family is asked to bring a covered dish and a small dessert. All members are welcome.

The La Grange Bluebonnet Lions will meet Thursday, Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center in La Grange.

3rd Annual Fayette County Car Show The 3rd Annual Fayette County Car Show will be held Saturday, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. Classic and new car models are welcome. Fee is $10 per entry (fee goes to the Fayette County Fair Association Scholarship Fund). Awards presentation will be held at 2 p.m. The first 50 entries will receive one free season pass to the Fayette County Fair Aug. 28-31. Category/awards: Best Fair Theme Presentation; Pre-1949; 1949-1979 Cars; 1949-1979 Trucks; 1980 & Up Cars; 1980 & Up Trucks; and Best of Show. Door prizes and 50/50 raffle.

Fayette County Democratic Party

The Fayette County Democratic Party invites you to attend a “Meet the Candidates” event on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 3 p.m., held at the Randolph Recreation-Activity Center, located at 653 E. Pearl St. This is a great opportunity to hear directly from the candidates running for state and federal offices, ask questions, and engage in the democratic process. All are welcome. Attendance is free.

St. Mary Catholic Church Bazaar

St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger will host their 75th Annual Bazaar on Sunday, Aug. 24 starting at 10:30 a.m. There will be a drive-thru and dine-in meal at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall consisting of fried chicken, sausage and trimmings for $15 per plate. Los Banditos featuring Tim Kulhanek will provide the music. There will be a silent auction as well as a live mini-auction and other fun activities. A prize drawing for a $5,000 gift card first prize, a $2,500 gift card second prize, a $1,000 gift card third prize, twenty $500 gift card prizes and 26 additional prizes will be held in the afternoon. Tickets for the drawing are available from the St. John’s/St. Mary’s Parish Office, St. Mary parishioners or Fayetteville Bank, or Round Top State Bank. Holy Smokers Barbecue

The St. James Holy Smokers will not host a barbecue during the month of August. The Holy Smokers will resume in September.
