By LISA GAY The Ladies at Holy Cross in Warda held their annual Over 80s Lunch last Sunday. A meal of turkey and dressing was served and enjoyed by members 80 years of age or older, as well as members of their Sewing Circle Group.

The filing deadline for candidates in next year’s March primary elections was Monday, Dec. 8. There will be two contested elections for local offices in the Republican primary – one for County Judge and another for Pct. 2 Commissioner. The other races are unopposed.

At Monday’s La Grange City Council Meeting, Tim Sanders of BEFCO Engineering gave an update on the citywide drainage project. The project is being funded with a Hurricane Harvey grant administered by the Texas General Land Office.

For the first time ever, the Rifle Hall is partnering with Round Top Schützen Verein Preservation, Inc., a qualified 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization for a fundraising gala. Save the date for the “Steins & Stars Gala” to be held Feb.

The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Monday, Dec. 2, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. The meeting was opened with a prayer followed by the standard reports provided by the secretary, treasurer and assistant treasurer. One verbal thank you was heard by members in appreciation for remembrances received. Sixteen ladies attended the meeting.

Citizens living on Zapalac Rd. asked Fayette County officials to help alleviate problems with gravel trucks.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court voted Monday to extend the burn ban. The ban was set to expire on Wednesday, Dec.
