Because of the coronavirus precautions, La Grange Main Street has changed it’s summer Movie Nights on the Square to drive-inn movies at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Last Friday was the first movie night and about 90 cars came out to watch the animated movie “Moana.” Back Porch BBQ provided the concession stand and Citizens on Patrol helped with parking. There are two more movie nights this summer, Friday June 19 is the Elvis Presley movie “Blue Hawaii.” Parking reservations are required for $5 per car and you can also preorder food. La Grange Chief of Police David Gilbreath reports that on Sunday, June 7 at 8:15 p.m. La Grange Police received a report from a concerned citizen that they heard glass breaking at Kleiber Tractor. La Grange Police Officer Mitchell Maxwell responded to the business.

The ever-popular Fayetteville City-Wide Garage Sale returns Saturday, July 11. Beginning at 7 a.m. and extending into the afternoon, locations all around Fayetteville will be buzzing with shoppers. This year there may be more pent-up demand than normal, given that people have been staying home. Maps of locations participating will be available around town the week before and on the day of the sale. The Square will be available for set up on a first come, first served basis with 10 square feet allowed for each participant. (Those on the square will not be listed on the map.) National Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as our national symbol by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. The official date of June 14 as National Flag Day was proclaimed in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson and permanently established in 1949 by the U.S. Congress. For over 125 years, members of KJZT Family Life, a non-profit organization that combines volunteerism and business, have contributed to their hometowns and churches by participating in community and parish projects and fundraisers.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will be cancelling the annual Crop Tour that was set for June 22.
