Flag Retirement

Shelby American Legion Post 602 will be holding a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday, June 13 at 9 a.m. at the Legion Post located on FM 1457 in Shelby. Anyone having flags that need to be retired is encouraged to bring them that day or get them to a Post member by June 12. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.

Flag Disposal

The American Legion Quade-Werchan Post 338 located in Round Top will hold a flag disposal ceremony on Saturday, June 13 beginning at 10 a.m. Post members will take flags collected in their disposal bin at the post building, and after inspection and determination by the Post Sergeant at Arms that those presented are deemed appropriate for disposal, will prepare them for the ceremony. Following the prescribed procedure, the attendees will honor our nation’s symbol and conduct the disposal of the flags. Following the conclusion of the ceremony post members and guests will be asked to reflect on the history of our nation’s flag. During the ceremony proper social distancing will be observed.

Hermann Sons Life

Hermann Sons Life Shelby will not meet on June 14 due to concerns of COVID-19.

FWSC Meeting

Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, June 15 at 5:15 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Road in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.

Fish Fry & Bake Sale

The Hostyn/Plum Scholarship Fish Fry and Bake Sale is rescheduled for Wednesday, June 17 with drive thru only from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the La Grange KC Hall. The meal will consist of fried fish, buttered potatoes, pinto beans and cole slaw. Plates are $10. Previously purchased tickets for the March fish fry will be honored at this time. If you have not purchased tickets, you can reserve plates by calling the KC Hall at (979) 968-5117. Limited tickets will be available at the drive-thru. All funds will benefit the Hostyn/Plum Scholarship Fund.

Bluebonnet Opry

Friends of the Bluebonnet Opry will begin Thursday, June 18 at the Silver Wings Ballroom in Brenham. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 and the grill will be open. Central Texas Food Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, June 19 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers.

Swiss Alp Farm Bureau

There will be no June or July meetings for the Swiss Alp Farm Bureau due to safety concerns. The Aug. 18 meeting is still scheduled and a notice will be posted closer to that date concerning program and details. The Swiss Alp Hall is still available for rentals, call Eric at (979) 247-3405.

Hermann Sons Life

The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life will not have their June meeting due to COVID-19. An announcement will be made when meetings will resume.

Warda Farm Bureau

The local Warda Farm Bureau will be cancelling its annual family night meeting scheduled for June 26. The scholarships will be presented to the recipients in the near future but in a private setting.
