The producer of Blossoms In The Dust flew to Fort Worth on June 19, 1941 to keep MGM’s promise to a woman with a heart as big as Texas.

Kyra McNally Albers, formerly of La Grange, graduated with honors from Houston’s Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts with a certificate in Creative Writing on May 23, 2020. She will be attending the University of North Texas with an academic scholarship to study media arts in the fall. Kyra is the daughter of Russell and Kristin Albers Lamm and Patrick J. McNally. She is the granddaughter of Sheila and Kieran McNally and Barnell and LaVerne Albers of Round Top.

A Schulenburg man received a traffic ticket after getting into an accident with a Sheriff’s deputy last Friday.

The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County (SLM) churches are reopening. Rutersville and Fayetteville are conducting regular worship as of June 7, following some social distancing guidelines. St. John Lutheran in Warrenton will resume regular worship services on Sunday, June 28, at 8:30 a.m., with graduate recognition. St. John Lutheran in Ellinger has not scheduled a reopening yet.

David (Zeebo) and Shelly Zbranek of La Grange are pleased to announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Lauren Ashley Zbranek to Joshua Dakota Ponder. Joshua is the son of Jeff and Connie Ponder of McKinney. Lauren is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin with a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies, early childhood through 6th grade. She is employed as a second grade English arts and reading teacher at Thomas J. Rusk Elementary School in Nacogdoches. Joshua is also a graduate of Stephen F. Austin with a bachelor of science in nursing. He is employed at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital as an emergency department registered nurse. The couple will be united in Holy Matrimony at Old Bethany Wedding Venue in Bruceville on Friday, July 10. They will be making their home in Nacogdoches.
